Catastrophism is the theory that changes in the Earth’s crust during geological history have resulted from sudden violent events in the Earth’s geological history. This belief was most popular during the late eighteenth century even until the late nineteenth century, things were still unclear about the world. The theory was thought of before the scientific revolution occurred in the world’s history. The catastrophism theory was a popular explanation for eras in the Earth’s history. Catastrophes caused these certain events in the Earth’s history, and created new crust each time. These ideas was accepted in those eras because it was an explanation accepted by the church.
